Entrepreneurship in Sweden – A prospective career path

Entrepreneurship in Sweden! Have you ever thought of this? Maybe not! Do you know that most of the world famous companies started from Sweden? Cannot think of any? Here are few examples: Bluetooth, Skype, Spotify, Klarna, Abba, and so on. I will write another post on startup companies starting from Sweden.

I wrote the kind of similar post on another blog (for my university) and I can’t wait to share an updated version here. If you are someone who has already started to think of your future career in Sweden or planning to become an entrepreneur, then this post is going to help you lot. We all are more or less familiar with the word “entrepreneurship“. But, to begin with, let’s have a look at experts’ opinion about entrepreneur and entrepreneurship.

It is the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which typically begins as a small business (read startup company), offering a product, process or service for sale or hire, and the people who do so are called ‘entrepreneurs’.

It is important to not that the capacity and willingness to develop, organize, and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit is the key that will drive you to start your own business.

Do you have an idea which you want to transform into a successful business enterprise? If the answer is YES, think again and ask yourself whether you are ready to take the risk or not. If you believe that you are motivated enough then go for it. People around you might call you as crazy but, believe me, this is really exciting to start your own company. It is important to think about it a few times and make sure you are driven to run your own company.

Let’s talk about entrepreneurship in Sweden. There are different organizations in Sweden (even from the academia) who will help you with things to do (procedures) if you are planning to start start-up company. It is really helpful to talk to experts working in the same area and discuss the possibilities of your idea. Then, you can register your company and start applying for funds. There are some organizations (mentioned below) which help startups by providing initial loans. Even there are scholarships available from an organization called “Leapfrogs” where they provide scholarships for a period of 3 months so that you can work with your idea during the summer and check the possibilities to go further. Also, you will get the opportunity to use research/lab facilities, both from academia and from these organizations.
